The first purchase orders were signed in Europe for the trendy city car Peugeot e-208. The high-voltage urban area is a hit: the electric version already represents 25% of sales of the 208 label.
Peugeot strikes a blow with the arrival on the market of its electric city car e-208. The lion brand hoped to sell 10% of its 208 in this version. The beginnings are extremely promising since the mix is actually 25% in favor of the urban outlet. Most of the time, such a phenomenon translates into future commercial cardboard.
Peugeot boss Jean-Philippe Imparato said in an interview with our colleagues from the Autonews Europe publication that: “out of the 40,000 requests for qualified information concerning the 208, half concern the electric version. A quarter of the pre-orders are also intended for the e-208”.
The manager tempers by indicating that it is still too early to anticipate larger sales for the trendy variant while admitting that this strong demand is probably due to many early adopters . Peugeot is now counting on the long term with a 20% mix in favor of the e-208 in the 208 range.
As a reminder, the Peugeot e-208 is available from € 32,100. Its 136-horsepower electric motor for 260 Nm of torque and its batteries allow it to travel up to 340 kilometers on a single charge according to the WLTP cycle.
